and ♥ MAKING OUR HOME A HAVEN PODCAST ♥ where we're weaving a bit of joy into every day.

Basketmaster's Weavings is about my passions, much of which revolves around basket weaving. I weave with reed and I love teaching others to weave. Many of the patterns and styles that I show in the blog are geared to the beginning weaver, or even the brand new weaver. If you have been thinking about wanting to learn to weave, then this blog is for you. Throughout the blog and videos I take you step by step through each and every process of weaving. I want you to be successful in weaving the very first time you try. For the intermediate and advanced weaver, my wish is that you take ideas that I show, mix them up a bit, and incorporate them into your own beautiful creations.
Happy Weaving and Baskets of Blessings to all my visitors,

Thank You....Drum Roll....Winners!!!!!
I am so happy and I've seriously got tears in my eyes as I type this. The grand total is $226 that we raised for the Susan G. Komen foundation. Every single penny that was donated is going to this worthy cause. Mike and I have covered any PayPal fees and shipping. I'm so happy for all your generosity. I feel honored to call you all my friends.
I've got to tell you a quick story that happened to me in Walmart just 2 days ago. I was shopping and had picked up a flyer with a pink ribbon product and the flyer was sitting in my basket. A lady near me was telling her adult daughter to get a bunch of celery. I just commented, "Oh I'm glad you mentioned that because I need celery too and had forgotten to put it on my list. Thanks for jogging my memory." The daughter looked over at me and saw the flyer in my basket, mentioned it and a brief conversation ensued. I told them that every women in my family has suffered or passed on from breast cancer. The mother said she had just been diagnosed and tears formed in her eyes. I wanted to say that I'm trying here to help with the fight against it. All I could say is, "I'm so sorry and my family will keep you in our prayers." This disease hits every family and it is heart wrenching. I want to say to all of you, Thank you, thank you thank you all for your generosity. Thank you to those of you who provided prizes. Thank you to those of you who donated money and thank you to all of you who have been praying for a cure. With all my heart I love each of you.

Feature a Friend Friday - Bety from Deep End of the Loom and Think Pink

Today I would like to introduce you to Bety from Deep End of the Loom.

I'm a wife, mom and child of Christ living in South Florida. I enjoy
weaving, knitting, some crochet and really love to help others learn a fiber
hobby. I've been a weaver for 3 years and am still learning and growing. My
newest adventure and challenge for this year is spinning yarn and I'm having fun
with my disastrous results.
As a reminder, all information about "Think Pink" can be found HERE. I am encouraging all of my readers and fellow basket weavers, crafters, and scrapbookers to donate an item to my “Think Pink” efforts. Whatever you can offer would be much appreciated! It does not have to be handmade. It can be any item that promotes “Think Pink” for breast cancer awareness. if you have a prize you would like to donate, please e-mail me at basketmaster_nancy@yahoo.com .

Think Pink and Feature a Friend Friday - Naomi

I'd like to introduce you to my friend Naomi. She is the sweet girl on the right. I taught her to weave her very first basket over a year ago. We are also great scrapbooking buddies.
Naomi is our latest contributor to my Think Pink fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen foundation. She sells wonderful Sentsy flameless candles that smell heavenly. Her website is HERE.
You can read more about my Susan G. Komen fight against breast cancer fundraiser HERE.

I asked Naomi to tell us a little about herself and here is what she said:
As for me, I am a 36yr old stay @ home momma to two kiddos....my Irish twins are 10months apart which keeps me busy. My daughter, Carolina is 5 and my son, Boogies (not his given name :D) is 4. They will both enter kindergarten this
year....yikes!!!
I enjoy scrapbooking and traveling with my mom. I have been
scrapbooking forever, I can remember a big type of scrapbook I kept in my
jr/high school days, that I would put in birthday cards, newspaper clippings,
and anything. however, I really became a true acid-free scrapbooker back in 1997
and OH have times/techniques/etc have changed!!!
I also enjoy my family, we
enjoy the outdoors (lol, ok they love the outdoors & I 'deal')--so we camp
alot...I also enjoy traveling with my mom--to resorts and scrapbooking retreats
:D
I have two blogs you can link my everything blog & my project
365 daily pic blog

Naomi has contributed for the raffle a beautiful Pink Candle Warmer from Sentsy along with a deliciously fragrant wax called Pretty In Pink.
Remember the theme is Think Pink and I need your help to make it a success for the raffle later this year during October, Breast Cancer Awareness month. For donations, please e-mail me at basketmaster_nancy@yahoo.com Remember more prizes mean more money for the foundation.
Please take a moment and visit Naomi's website and blogs and say Hello to her. Thank you so much Naomi for your donation towards fighting breast cancer.

Think Pink Reminder - Thermogram
This was on the news and I find it absolutely amazing how medical science is progressing with early detection regarding breast cancer.
There is a 10 second commercial before it goes into the information regarding Thermograms. It is only a little over 2 minutes long and it is a procedure that could save your life.
Remember the theme is Think Pink and I need your help to make it a success for the raffle later this year during October, Breast Cancer Awareness month. For donations, please e-mail me at basketmaster_nancy@yahoo.com Remember more prizes mean more money for the foundation.
Please everyone take a moment and visit CJ at Tea and Stitches. Her handiwork with basket weaving, card making and stitchery is amazing.

Baskets of Blessings and Thank you All,
Nancy

Share a Basket Sunday - Pink Pot of Hope and future Susan G. Komen Fundraiser

I want to show you the interesting base on this basket. It forms a footer by doing a 4 rod waling row. Now I've never ever said this on my blog before but I'm going to this time. I'm not going to tell you, at least not for some time how to do this great look on the base, I want you to go get the pattern and support the Susan G. Komen fund. Again go HERE to get details on where to get the pattern.

Here is my basket and I just am thrilled with the look. It's a larger basket than what I thought it looked in the picture. If you read Juliana's post I agree with her completely that pictures don't do it justice. Want to hear something I think is kind of neat. Julie and I live thousand's of miles apart and we didn't contact one another about weaving this basket, although I knew we've both had the pattern for some time, yet we wove this same basket within less than 24 hours of each other. How's that for being on the same page with other weavers! Ok, I find stuff like that cool.
I didn't have any round reed dyed in pink so I added a pink row above and below the 4 rod waling in the middle. Love the basket and love the pattern!!!

Now, onto the FUNDRAISING part of this post. This is FUN, IMPORTANT, and a MUST READ! (Yes, you’ll be reading about it again. Often! And, hopefully, on many different blogs!)
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and I am hosting my first “THINK PINK” Raffle for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Raffle tickets will be available online or, if you are in the area of one of our contributors, locally. 100% of the money raised from the raffle will go to the foundation, but I need your help to make this event successful.
I am encouraging all of my readers and fellow basket weavers, crafters, and scrapbookers to donate an item (or two!) to my “Think Pink” efforts. Whatever you can offer would be much appreciated! It does not have to be handmade. It can be any item that promotes “Think Pink” breast cancer awareness. My first contribution, of course, will be the basket pictured above! Remember…The theme is "Think Pink", so if you have a prize you would like to donate, please e-mail me basketmaster_nancy@yahoo.com . More prizes will mean more money for the foundation.
Many thanks to Anne @ When Pigs Fly for helping me in creating this benefit.
For those donating prizes, I'll put photos of them up on both my blog and my website, along with links to your blogs and/or websites. I'll also put the photos up in a prominent static place for viewing from September through December. This is a great way for you to promote your business or blog, and also my way of thanking you for your support for this cause.
The Susan G. Komen foundation is very near and dear to my heart as every woman on both sides of my family has experienced breast cancer including my own dear mother. It is something I take VERY seriously.
Thank you, again for reading this. Remember that 100% of all money raised will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research.
Please come back for details and updates on my “Think Pink” Breast Cancer Awareness event.
Have a Blessed Sunday,
Nancy
